Jim Rohrstaff has been immersed in the world of golf clubs and luxury real estate developments since 1999. His journey began as a club professional, and over the years, he transitioned into sales, marketing, and eventually, the development of golf clubs and communities. This career path has taken him across the United States, Mexico, and, most recently, New Zealand.
In the early stages of his career, Jim held a role as the Director of Sales at DMB and Associates before venturing into entrepreneurship. In 2007, he founded his own company, Legacy Partners focusing on luxury golf real estate. Jim’s unique skillset has allowed him to broker nearly $2B in real estate transactions while working closely and confidentially with titans of industry, entrepreneurs, and Fortune 500 CEOs all over the world. Jim met friend & business partner, Ric Kayne, during his time as the broker at the Vintage Club in Indian Wells, California.
Jim was introduced to New Zealand by Ric in 2012 and fell in love with the country. In 2014, Ric convinced Jim to make the life-altering decision to relocate to New Zealand, driven by his passion for golf and real estate ventures. The year 2015 marked a significant milestone when Tara Iti, opened its doors to rave reviews from members, guests, and the global golf media.
Together with Ric, Jim then went on to develop Te Arai Links, a world-class golf resort, which saw the South Course open in 2022, followed by the North Course in 2023. Te Arai Links consists of two top 100 golf courses, the world’s largest putting green, 48 Suites, 19 two-bedroom Ocean Cottages, 6 four-bedroom Villas and multiple restaurants.
Today, Jim stands on the board of Tara Iti Golf Club and Managing Partner at Te Arai Links, both situated just north of Auckland. He is also a member of the board at the Hills Golf Club in Queenstown.
Jim splits his time between Auckland and his home at Tara Iti with his wife Kara, their two sons (who have finally started to fall in love with the game of golf) and their new puppy, Turtle.

Kendall Mackie
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Kendall has over ten years’ experience in Administration and Executive Assistant roles. She has worked in a range of industries, including manufacturing, recruitment and FMCG across both New Zealand and Australia. As Executive Assistant to Jim, Kendall ensures the smooth office operation while supporting Jim with both development and organisational matters.
Outside of work, Kendall enjoys spending time with her family, especially her dog Zeke, travelling the world, and is an avid rugby supporter.
